Every journey is made possible by people, and this Women’s Month, we are celebrating the women who help keep the transport industry moving.
From customer care and operations to administration, leadership and technical careers, women continue to build their place across the transport industry.
Their stories are stories of growth, resilience, ambition and possibility.
Turning a Passion for Vehicles Into a Career
For Nombuso, an interest in vehicles became something much bigger — a goal to learn, gain experience and build a future in mechanics.
Growing up in a community where access to vehicles and technology was limited, she knew she wanted to understand more about how vehicles work.
She also wanted to become the first in her family to pursue that path.
Today, she is gaining hands-on experience in the transport industry, learning new skills and turning something she once imagined into a real career opportunity.
From Curiosity to Opportunity
Careers in transport extend far beyond the roles passengers see during a journey.
Behind every coach is a network of people working in technical, operational, administrative and customer-facing roles.
For young women entering traditionally male-dominated industries, gaining practical experience can be an important step towards building confidence, knowledge and long-term career opportunities.
Nombuso’s journey is a reminder that career paths do not have to follow expectations.
Sometimes they begin with curiosity, a willingness to learn and the courage to step into a space where you may not have seen many people like yourself before.
There Is More Than One Way to Move an Industry Forward
Women contribute across every part of the transport journey, often in roles passengers may never see.
Technical Careers
Mechanics, maintenance teams and technical specialists help keep vehicles operating and journeys moving.
Operations
From planning to coordination, operational teams help bring each journey together behind the scenes.
Customer Care
Customer-facing teams assist passengers, answer questions and support travellers before and after their journeys.
Administration & Leadership
Women continue to contribute to the decision-making, organisation and leadership that keeps the industry moving forward.
The Women Who Keep the Journey Moving
A passenger may only see one part of a journey.
Behind it are people preparing, coordinating, assisting, maintaining, organising and solving problems every day.
This Women’s Month, Eagle Liner recognises the women whose work, ambition and commitment form part of that journey.
Here’s to Women Who:
- Challenge expectations
- Learn new skills
- Build careers
- Create opportunities
- Lead by example
- Keep moving forward
Here’s to the Women Behind Every Journey
This Women’s Month, we celebrate women like Nombuso who are building new skills, pursuing ambitious careers and proving that there is no single path to success.
We also celebrate the women across the transport industry whose work helps keep passengers, teams and journeys moving every day.
May their stories encourage more young women to imagine themselves in every part of the industry — including the places they may never have considered before.
